Hey there! As you read this, I am attending Dickens Camp held virtually at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I've been wanting to attend for several years now and while not far from my home, attending the lectures and seminars while still being able to sleep in my own bed is super convenient.
The featured book this year is A Christmas Carol which I had never read although I've seen the theatrical version many times and attended the local Dickens Fair every year pre-Covid where they perform vignettes from the book. For a change of pace, next week I'm attending Writer's Police Academy. I went last year and while nothing that I learned explicitly made it into my books (too gruesome,) what I learned there elevated my thinking and later my writing. If it is anything like last year, I will need a week to recover. So much new information to absorb. So much imagining going on. Books on sale, free books, and puzzles lie in wait for you. Go!

Puzzles
I am at that stage in the writing process of the next Inspector Graham book where I'm doing a lot of puzzles. They quieten my mind and help me think things through. I like to do physical puzzles just like I like to write by hand when I am writing a particularly challenging piece, but online puzzles are a thing. Here is a link to one celebrating 100 years of Agatha Christie stories. I found it absorbing and not too difficult. There was a nice “clunk” when the pieces fit together. It's the little things. 🙂
Finally…
I regularly chat on my Facebook page, so if you would like to follow along just swing on over there and come say hi! If you are not a social media person, I totally get it. No need to explain. Just drop me a line via email if you ever want to chat. Honestly, it is the best way to get ahold of me. Star is hard at it, I see. Happy reading!
