πŸ“š What has Audrey Hepburn got to do with it? πŸ“š

Hey there!

It's still pretty chilly in the mornings at 7 a.m. when I go out for my walk but the blooms and blossoms are beautiful. These are from my deck guarded conscientiously by Shaun the Sheep.

What I learned this week

The above beautiful photo is of Audrey Hepburn (but you knew that.) It was taken by Irving Penn, an American photographer. I went to an exhibit of his photographs in San Francisco this week.

I am not a visual person. I am the sort that, when tasked with setting up a a visually appealing, enticing table, be it a book signing, or a cake stall, or a rummage sale table, will give it a good go, only to watch the person who tasked me with the job return to check my work, tut loudly, andΒ rearrange everything.

But while I can't “see” things ahead of time, as I say to Barney who works with me and whoΒ isΒ a visual person – photographer and designer – I know what I like when I see it. But patience is required.

Words are much easier for me. This week's writing task was building out the main outline of the new story. I was glad to get this done. There's much more to do, but now I have a skeleton to flesh out. I can see where I'm going.

The research goes on apace. An experience like today's at the exhibit may not appear to have anything to do with Jersey or my story, but it might trigger something in a direct or tangential way. One just never knows. This week I learned:

  • The difference between joists and beams.
  • About the lookout points on the “White Cliffs of Dover.”
  • Irving Penn had a very beautiful, very chic wife, Lisa Fonssagrives, who is considered to have been the first supermodel.
  • That it is possible for San Francisco to be warm in May.

Congratulations!
