πŸ“š Birthdays πŸ“š

Hey there, lovely reader!

Gosh, it's noisy here today. We've got a couple of world leaders meeting for a summit two miles away and the air is full of planes and helicopters. Add a few police sirens and this author is struggling to concentrate.

Today, I have updates on Star, and on Inspector Graham audio. Let's goooooooooooo!

Happy Birthday, Star

Some readers are complaining they haven't heard about Star for a while. It was Star's birthday a couple of weeks ago. She is 14. Back when I was younger, a child in fact, 14 was considered ancient for a cat, but now with medical advancements, we can reasonably look forward to several more years with her.

Before I moved to the US, I had two black cats, siblings, and when I left the UK, they were adopted by a lovely couple who periodically sent me updates. I was nervous about adopting them out but they had a fabulous home in the country and both lived to be over 20! So I know Star can do well.

Age is starting to catch up with Star, though. She's booked in to have a tooth extracted in late December – I had never heard of such a thing until the vet suggested it – and I think her hunting days are over, at least the catching part.

She's still very cuddly and has different people she hangs out with at different parts of the day. I have trained her not to visit me while I am working (she sits on my keyboard) but my husband works in a very sunny office so she hangs out with him. Often in the afternoon, she'll lay in the sunny spot next to my desk. In the evening, when I sit down she's straight on my lap or sitting on the back of the sofa trying to lick my hair (which drives me nuts, I wear a hoodie to stop her!)

I took the picture above one evening when she was lying on one of her favorite blankets. She looks pretty sedate there but woe betide if a neighboring cat strolls by. Her tail puffs out, and she's up at the window, making the most horrendous noises. You'd think she was being murdered.

We always tell her she's being very brave defending us like that, and she is. She's our very best girl. Happy Birthday, Star!
